If 2020 seemed like a roller coaster for the travel industry, it can’t touch the expectations for Florida’s theme parks in 2021. After a yearlong downturn, hopes are high this year for a return to normalcy. And in Florida that means a return to our amazing theme parks.
As an extra incentive to coax reluctant travelers to the Sunshine State, visitors will find a plethora of new rides and attractions that just might take their breath away. Literally. And that includes some roller coasters you won’t believe…
At Florida Farm Bureau insurance, we love to visit our over-the-top theme parks as much as you do. Check out our list below of some of the hottest rides in the state—proving there will be no shortage of vacation thrills and chills this year.
Most, if not all of the below, are expected to open this spring.
Universal Orlando Resort
Jurassic World: VelociCoaster
Nicknamed “The Apex Predator of Coasters,” this attraction has riders in the fast lane with speeds up to 70 miles per hour and curves reaching up to 150 feet in the air, only to plunge immediately into an 80-degree drop. Riders twist and soar across 4,700 feet of track where they encounter “near misses” and launches along the way.
The promo video features a message at the end that reminds would-be riders to beware: “Designed for Speed. Engineered for the Hunt.” And by the way, creepy dinosaurs are likely to pop out everywhere!
Walt Disney World Orlando
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Guests discover that they have suddenly been drastically “shrunk”—to the size of a mouse, actually—when they enter this new attraction, where they find themselves scurrying on the floor in Chef Custeau’s kitchen. What could possibly go wrong?
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Iron Gwazi Roller Coaster
If you were looking for the world’s fastest and steepest roller coaster—that big one, which also happens to be the tallest in North America—you’ve found it here. This ride sends guests plummeting from a 206-foot-tall peak into a 91-degree drop. Its top speed: 76 miles per hour. Enough said!
SeaWorld Orlando
Ice Breaker Roller Coaster
This quadruple-launch (backward-and-forward) coaster ends with a reverse launch into the steepest “beyond-vertical” drop in Florida: a 93-foot-tall spike with a 100-degree angle. The track winds around 2,750 feet at a maximum speed of 52 miles per hour. And the whole thing is over in 80-90 terrifying seconds!
Aquatica Orlando
Riptide Race
This water park is a next-door neighbor to Sea World, and a sort of family-friendly change of pace for those who have survived the rides mentioned above! This 650-foot slide features three race stations and one head-to-head dueling section—a world’s first element for a water park. The slide’s height rises to 68 feet.
