Buying Flowers? Support Local Florida Farmers
Shopping local is one of the most important things you can do to strengthen your community and support farms and small businesses. When it comes to fresh flowers, buying local is a great way to support a nearby business and ensure that your flowers will be as fresh as possible.
Fortunately, Florida boasts many amazing flower farms (some that let you pick your own) that transform any day into a special occasion—and a trip to a flower farm can become a romantic date for two, or a memorable weekend outing for the whole family.
We feature a few farms below that promise a beautiful experience!
Black Barn Blossoms
This family-owned specialty cut flowers boutique practices a no-till farming method that utilizes a mix of raised beds and permaculture, fertilizing organically to avoid the use of harsh chemicals. Every stem of seasonal flowers and greenery is seed blocked, transplanted, and harvested by hand. Among their many varieties are dahlias, zinnias, gladiolus, and lisianthus. Black Barn serves retail customers in the Florida panhandle and lower Alabama.
Isaac Farms focuses on producing the most exotic succulents in Florida. As a family-run business, the owners travel the world looking for high quality new succulent and cactus species that thrive well in Florida’s climate and, along the way, they search for all types of pottery for patio and home. They offer custom arrangements, wood deco designs, and creative blending of these unique plants. Thousands of customers visit this farm every month, often surprised by the diverse selections they find.
KB Farms Cut Flowers
This family-owned farm offers seasonal annuals, native perennials, woody stems, and herbs, for weddings, parties, special events, proms, holidays, and more. Brides may reserve the entire farm for a private tour to consider choices for arrangements. Floral workshops are held on a regular basis.
Millwood Flower Farm
Millwood sells a wide variety of freshly harvested, seasonal flowers, herbs, and foliage, all grown in Marion County, Florida. Flowers can be purchased by the stem, bouquet, or bucket; or you can choose from their offerings of long-lasting, fragrant dried flowers. They enjoy working with florists to create bouquets or table arrangements for weddings, birthday parties, anniversaries, baby showers, and other special occasions. Table arrangements can be prepared and delivered or picked up at the farm. Flower workshops are also offered.
Southern Hill Farms
Here you can pick your own zinnias and strikingly tall sunflowers as well as blueberries, peaches, and strawberries. Amenities for all ages include a playground, wagon rides, Southern Hill Market, and yard games. Before you go, check their special events to see what is in season and ready to pick.
