Henry P. Leu Gardens

Leu Gardens features plant materials suitable for cultivation in Central Florida climates, including a wide selection of temperate and tropical plants, whatever the season. 

The estate is home to 12 gardens, including one each for tropical plants, herbs, butterflies, vegetables, roses, white blooming plants, arid plants, camellias, and more. The historic Leu home museum is set in the heart of the gardens. The property also boasts lakes, hiking trails, and outdoor sculptures.

Florida Botanical Gardens

This 100-acre site in the middle of the most densely populated county in Florida (Pinellas County) opened in 2000 with a mission to grow into a world-class botanical garden. Since then, it has bloomed into a diverse garden paradise. 

Garden areas showcase tropical and subtropical flora and fauna while incorporating water and art features. You will find themed formal gardens, featuring roses, topiaries, palms, vines, succulents, and azaleas. You’ll also find gardens dedicated to native plants, tropical fruit, herbs, and butterflies, and a children’s trail that allows kids to engage with nature and music.

Naples Botanical Garden

This 170-acre garden welcomes more than 220,000 visitors per year to experience themed gardens that represent the culture and flora of the tropics. Known for its award-winning horticultural design and dedication to sustainability, this world-class garden includes plants from around the world.

Among its many striking gardens are Irma’s Garden, with plants chosen for their striking form, intriguing flowers and captivating colors; the LaGrippe Orchid Garden that boasts a myriad of colorful and fragrant orchid species from around the globe; and the Kapnick Caribbean Garden, scattered throughout with tropical fruits and other plants critical to the region’s identity and global economic contributions. 

In the center of the landscape is the Water Garden, showing off colorful blooms from around the world, with a boardwalk, sound stage, and performance lawn that provides the setting for one of the best outdoor concert venues in Naples.

Miami Beach Botanical Gardens

This tiny botanical garden describes itself as “an intimate three-acre tropical garden on a very big mission: a sustainable urban oasis in the middle of the glitz and neon of South Beach, welcoming visitors from around the corner to around the world, serving the community as ‘Miami Beach’s Backyard.’” 

Impressive for its size, the garden boasts nine diverse gardens, including the Collins Canal Promenade and gardens featuring orchids, flowering trees, water features, wildlife, and more. 

The Garden has become a dynamic venue for arts and cultural programming, environmental education, and cultural tourism.

Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden

Begun in 1936, the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden is proud to observe its 85th birthday this year, boasting its status as “the only frost-free, subtropical, natural conservation habitat, native plant botanical garden in the continental United States.” 

There are 15 acres of native garden and forest to explore, along with boardwalks and nature trails where you will encounter abundant native flora and fauna. Summer visitors will find this outdoor refuge alive with native plants in bloom, as well as plenty of butterflies and local and migratory birds.
