What Happens At Daytona Bike Week?

Bike Week started as a beach racing event in 1937. Now, bikers take over all of Daytona County. Bars and restaurants host special events. Costumes parties, and impromptu bike parades are frequently spotted. Got a custom bike? Daytona Bike Week is the place to show off your big-wheel cruiser, 300-watt bike stereo, antique Triumph Bonneville, or rare Indian Chief Dark Horse.

Daytona Bike Week Motorcycle Races

Many Bike Week races are held at the Daytona International Speedway, best known for hosting the DAYTONA 500, NASCAR’s top race. The DAYTONA 200, DAYTONA TT, and DAYTONA Supercross races all take place at the International Speedway. Go here for a complete list of the Bike Week events held at this track.

Antique board track bike racing (bikes made from 1910-1955) takes place at the New Smyrna Speedway.

Should I Bring The Kids?

Bike Week is not billed as a kid-friendly event, but kids should be fine on the Daytona Beach boardwalk and pier. Daytona Beach’s Main Street is the epicenter for Bike Week parties, and things can get a little rowdy at night. Still, plenty of people make Bike Week a family vacation.

Should I Buy Motorcycle Insurance?

Motorcycles are notoriously dangerous. Florida does not require motorcycle insurance to legally register a bike, although 47 states do. Therefore, you should probably purchase motorcycle insurance anyway.

Florida law holds you responsible for all damages if you cause an accident on your motorcycle.

Liability Insurance

Motorcycle liability insurance protects you from having to pay devastating out-of-pocket costs for property damage or bodily injuries to others. These damages may include replacing someone else’s vehicle or covering expensive medical bills. Motorcycle insurance can also help protect you from a lawsuit following an at-fault collision.

Collision Insurance

If you cause a collision, comprehensive motorcycle insurance will help replace your property and cover your medical bills, as well as those of the other parties involved.

Uninsured Motorist Insurance

Uninsured motorist insurance will replace your damaged property and pay your medical bills if an accident is not your fault, but the at-fault party doesn’t carry liability insurance.

Motorcycle insurance quotes are highly case-specific. You may receive a discount for insuring more than one motorbike, riding with a helmet, or parking your bike in winter.
