Underwrite, quote, rate, renew and monitor the Personal/Farm/Commercial lines of business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Including the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Determine the degree of risk on commercial policies.
  • Review loss history of policyholders.
  • Evaluate, accept, modify, reject, cancel and/or non-renew applications or existing policies.
  • Initiate inspections and field audits.
  • Provide underwriting assistance to agency force.
  • Handle all duties associated with treaty exception requests.
  • Act as the Flood Coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain Commercial procedure Manual.
  • Attends and participates in special projects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION and/ EXPERIENCE:  Candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business or related field, with 2-4 years related underwriting experience or 5 years minimum equivalent combination of education and underwriting experience. Completion of IIA general Insurance courses preferred and willingness to participate in other educational training. You must be proficient in English written and verbal communication skills, demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills. You need to be able to perform work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrated customer service skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical concepts.  Ability to work with mathematical operations related to daily tasks.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
