#0911 Claims Representative – Dade County
SUMMARY: Responsible for resolving damage and injury claims caused by or incurred by insureds. Resolution of a claim involves determining coverage; liaison between parties involved; inspection of damage; verification and appraisal of items involved in property losses; negotiation, evaluation, and settlement of injury claims in both commercial and personal lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Investigate, validate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle all claims as assigned.
Submit reserve recommendations on assigned claims.
Communicate with the public regarding procedures, problems, and coverages.
Negotiate fair settlement with individual claimants or Attorneys.
Maintain claim files and follow departmental reporting procedures.
Report risk reviews to the Underwriting department.
Participate in training and continuing education courses as requested or required.
Prepare estimates on auto and property losses.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university with 1 to 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical concepts. Ability to work with mathematical operations related to daily tasks.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: Must be state certified and licensed as Claims Adjuster. Studies are encouraged toward the professional designation of Associate in Claims and/or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must continue training in property damage evaluation, auto appraisal, building construction, and flood and catastrophe adjusting.
