#0894 Policy Analyst

SUMMARY: Responsible for analyzing all change requests and new business in regards to accuracy, completeness, underwriting guidelines, data entry and any follow-up. Responsible for canceling/reinstating policies and resolving processing problems. This job requires extensive data entry and communication with others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Communicates by phone, email, and written correspondence with insureds, agents, secretaries, mortgagees, lienholders and other departments.

Analyzes for accuracy and enters data for applications, changes, cancellations, non-renewals and reinstatements.

Performs underwriting functions such as ordering and analyzing motor vehicle reports to determine if a driver should be added to a policy.

Makes underwriting decisions such as adding coverage.

Must remember and apply numerous regulations and rules required by the state and the company.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

DATA ENTRY SKILL: Minimum speed of 45 correct words per minute.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Ability to work with mathematical operations related to daily tasks.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
