SUMMARY: Responsible for resolving damage and injury claims caused by or incurred by insureds. Resolution of a claim involves determining coverage; liaison between parties involved; verification of items involved in property losses; negotiation, evaluation, and settlement of injury claims in both commercial and personal lines. Functions as a multi-line inside claims adjuster with $25,000 authority.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Communicates with the public regarding procedures, problems and coverages; investigates, controls, evaluates, and settles claims.

Analyzes claim situations for coverage by contract.

Negotiates a fair settlement with individual claimants or attorneys. Prepares status updates submitted for supervisor.

Reports and reviews claims.


Inspects and estimates the amount of damage.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school degree or general education degree (GED) with 0 to 6 months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Ability to work with mathematical operations related to daily tasks.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: Must be state licensed as Multi-Line Claims Adjuster. Must pass state adjuster license within 6 months of hire and have two opportunities to pass license exam. Studies are encouraged toward the professional designation of Associate in Claims.
