Job Description
Products & Compliance Analyst

SUMMARY: Provides technical expertise to support the Government Affairs and Products and Compliance departments for conducting insurance business in the State of Florida. Assures regulatory compliance by making appropriate rule and form filings for all lines of insurance. Drafts and publishes policy forms and technical manuals for all lines of insurance for use in the State of Florida. Reports to the department’s manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as they arise.

Researches, analyzes and interprets regulatory changes and their impact on policy forms, endorsements, notices and rules.

Responsible for the compliance of company policy forms, endorsements, notices, disclosures and rules.

Responsible for maintaining accurate electronic records of all related filing approvals.

Interpretation and construction of independent policy forms, endorsements and rules. Drafts legally correct, develops and finalizes the same.

Initiates, coordinates and ensures the compliant implementation of new/revised policy forms, endorsements and rules.

Negotiates and resolves issues or objections with State regulatory entities regarding company’s filings for policy forms, endorsements and rules.

Initiates and coordinates the initial printing of policy forms, notices and endorsements.

Supports other departments’ activities through research, contract / rule, and regulatory interpretations and recommendations.

Engage in collaborative projects in support of other functional areas of the organization, including but not limited to underwriting, finance and accounting, actuarial, operations, training, and technology.

Represents organization at industry workshops, professional organizations and/or informal meetings.

Leads project teams and acts as a liaison with regards to workflow between other areas for new/revised product implementation. Project team leadership includes team assembly.

Most projects are long term durations between 4-6 months or 6-12 months.

Assists in the performance of electronic publishing of forms, rules and rates, by providing final electronic copies of the same to the Products and Forms Compliance Analyst or Administrative Assistant.

Assists Government Affairs with Market Conduct examinations or inquiries, regulatory audits, and a variety of compliance responsibilities as needed. Coordinated market conduct support from a filing review/research perspective.

As a senior analyst, this position is responsible for the operations and staff when the manager is away from the organization.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university with 5 to 7 years related insurance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, as determined by Department Manager. Proven knowledge of insurance concepts, insurance contract interpretation & layout, principles and practices. Application of acquired knowledge & education to interpret laws and regulations as related to Property and Casualty insurance products is essential to this position. Experience in insurance compliance with knowledge of legal research, interpreting laws, and drafting insurance contracts. State filing experience is required. Familiarity with insurance advisory organizations such as Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) and experience in interpreting their correspondence and websites.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, technical procedures, insurance business periodicals/circulars, and professional journals. Strong educational skills to write reports, business correspondence, work orders and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, customers, and the general public. Solid communication skills are necessary as the analyst will be frequently discussing work products with both internal and external stakeholders.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply complex mathematical concepts. Ability to work with mathematical operations related to daily tasks.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of Personal Computers - Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Publishing Software. Ability to make electronic filings with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. Typing skills are highly recommended. Highly organized and detail oriented. Ability to handle a wide variety of challenges in a fast paced and ever changing regulatory environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork within the department and organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: This position requires professional insurance designations such as CPCU, agent or adjuster licenses. Active pursuit of continuing insurance education. Membership with AICP will be required.

Occasional travel with overnight stays in conjunction with various industry and professional related symposiums.
